A proven method of success in business is to gain a strategic advantage over your competition. Gaining a strategic advantage can be accomplished by gathering useful information about your clients, your vendors, your employees and your industry. Acacia Systems Inc. specializes in helping their clients acheive such an advantage with unique, systems oriented custom Macintosh solutions.

Acacia Systems has been maximizing the Macintosh advantage since 1987. Members of Apple Solution Experts, Apple Training Alliance, The National Association of Macintosh Trainers and the Technology Business Alliance, the company specializes in custom small and medium business solutions including software selection, network design and installation, database programming and productivity training. The principals have degrees in entrepreneurship and small business management which help them to analyze all aspects of a business when recommending and installing solutions.

The firm has created custom Macintosh applications and databases using ProVUEs Panorama, FileMaker Pro by Claris and Microsofts FOX programming environments. Their wide range of experience across many industries gives them a real advantage when analyzing client needs. Some previous projects include:

A job shop package including job tracking, invoicing, shipping, bar coding and forecasting
A real estate application that runs a Century 21 administrative office including digital imaging
Newspaper subscription tracking for the Orange County Register
A nationwide sales lead and contact file for McGraw Hill
A submissions and response database for Sire Records
A parts failure analysis application for Apple Computer
Scheduling, planning and invoicing files for a ChemDry carpet cleaning firm

Current projects include an invoicing, scheduling and planning application for a plant pest management company, an auto repair accounting program and an accounting program for a commercial production firm.

One recent project illustrates Acacias ability to automate almost any task. Steven Myers and Associates, an Orange County proposal/project management firm, sought out Acacia to simplify their accounting and payroll process.

SM&A had employees working on various projects throughout the world recalls Jeff Kozuch, an early adopter of Macintosh/Panorama solutions and President of Acacia Systems. They were stretching the limits of several off-the-shelf programs and trying to make them function as a cohesive unit. The desired results were slow in coming.

Says Ron Hunn, CFO of SM&A, One of our greatest needs was in the area of payroll. We have a unique method of disbursements and recoups based on the timing of our receivables.

Kozuch stated SM&A saw a clear path to productivity. They told us their vision and with the power of the Macintosh, we programmed it. They now have a full featured program which includes project tracking, employee information, invoicing, payroll, commission tracking and an historical log of all transactions.

We simply transfer our employee data to ADP for final processing says Hunn. All our numbers are accurate and the process flows smoothly. We can even print a recap of all activity for each project. Acacia did a great job.

Acacia is currently programming a follow up suite of Panorama client/server files to track contacts, scheduling, resource management and proposals for SM&A.
